Sunan wa Aadab
1. Exclusive Worship
● Etiquette: To worship Allah alone, dedicating all acts of devotion entirely to Him.
﴿وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلوةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَوةَ وَذُلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ﴾
"And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion."
Quran, Al-Bayyinah 98:5.
2. Profound Reverence
● Etiquette: To deeply honor, exalt, and revere Allah.
﴿لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِاللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوْهُ وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا﴾
"That you [people] may believe in Allah and His Messenger and honor him and respect the Prophet and exalt Allah morning and afternoon."
Quran, Al-Fath 48:9.
3. Consciousness and Awe (Taqwa)
● Etiquette: To constantly maintain the fear and awe of Allah.
﴿ذَلِكَ يُخَوِّفُ اللهُ بِه عِبَادَه يُعِبَادِ فَاتَّقُوْنِ﴾
"That is what Allah threatens His servants with. O My servants, then fear Me."
Quran, Az-Zumar 39:16.
4. Unwavering Obedience
● Etiquette: To remain consistently engaged in the obedience of Allah while actively abandoning all forms of disobedience and sin.
﴿وَمَنْ يُطِعِ اللهَ وَرَسُوْلَه يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهُرُ خُلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ . وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُوْدَه يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ﴾
"And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger will be admitted by Him to gardens [in Paradise] under which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein; and that is the great attainment. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment."

5. Humility and Dependence
● Etiquette: To constantly remain humble and present yourself as completely dependent before Allah.
﴿يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَنْتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ إِلَى اللهِ﴾
"O mankind, you are those in need of Allah."
Quran, Fatir 35:15.
6. Absolute Trust (Tawakkul)
● Etiquette: To place your complete trust and reliance solely upon Allah.
﴿وَعَلَى اللهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوْا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّؤْمِنِينَ﴾
"And upon Allah rely, if you should be believers."
Quran, Al-Ma'idah 5:23.
7. Good Thought / Opinion of Allah (Husn al-Zann)
● Etiquette: To always maintain a good opinion and positive expectations of Allah.
أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي
The Prophet (ﷺ) narrated that Allah the Exalted said: "I am as My servant thinks (expects) I am."
Sahih Bukhari, Kitab at-Tawheed.
8. Divine Modesty (Haya)
● Etiquette: To have modesty (Haya) before Allah. Meaning: Any action you would not do in front of people due to shame, you should prioritize avoiding out of shame before Allah.
فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ مِنَ النَّاسِ
In a detailed narration, the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What if one of us is completely alone?" He replied, "Allah is more deserving of your modesty than people."

9. Abundant Remembrance (Dhikr)
● Etiquette: To remember Allah abundantly and frequently.
﴿يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اذْكُرُوا اللهَ ذِكْرًا كَثِيرًا وَسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا﴾
"O you who have believed, remember Allah with much remembrance. And exalt Him morning and afternoon."
Quran, Al-Ahzab 33:41-42.
10. Yearning to Meet Allah
● Etiquette: To hold a deep, longing desire to meet Allah.
مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ، وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ كَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him. And whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him."
Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Abwab az-Zuhd.
11. Unmatched Love for Allah and His Messenger
● Etiquette: To ensure that your love for Allah and His Messenger supersedes your love for everything else in existence.
ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَجَدَ حَلَاوَةَ الْإِيمَانِ... مَنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will taste the sweetness of faith... That Allah and His Messenger become dearer to him than anything else."

12. Submitting to the Shariah
● Etiquette: To make the Divine Law (Shariah) the ultimate judge and deciding factor in all your worldly affairs.
﴿إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَبَ بِالْحَقِّ لِتَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِمَا أَرَاكَ اللهُ﴾
"Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you."
Quran, An-Nisa 4:105.
13. Believing in the Ease of Islam
● Etiquette: To maintain a firm conviction that the religion is fundamentally easy.
إِنَّ الدِّينَ يُسْرٌ
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Indeed, the religion is easy."
